OR Highlights

The big blue bear outside the Colorado Convention Center

Recently, we traveled to Denver to visit with folks at the Outdoor Retailer.

Held at the Colorado Convention Center, the event attracts some 6,000 vendors and over 30,000 attendees. Yikes! Think Mall-on-Christmas-Eve frenzy.

The OR, as it is widely known, gives us a chance to remind the outdoor recreation industry that horse owners and riders are “out there” more than most.

Companies like Darn Tough, Patagonia, Stanley, Kate’s Real Food, and Alpine Start get it. They are all generous Best Horse Practices Summit spons

ors and are hip to the outdoors-y nature of us horse owners and riders. Some need more information.

We particularly enjoyed visiting with some up-and-coming brands.

To note:

Chill Angel is a new Colorado-based company making wool sleepwear. Think not of thick ragg socks. Their pajamas and nighties are delightful, soft, and breathable. Stay tuned for more on this horsewomen-friendly line.

Feller City Pocket Jacket

Dovetail Workwear is a new line of tough, attractive clothing for women. We love their Givens Workshirt.

Sterling Brooke is woman-owned and based in Florida. They make handsome wood-accented pocket knives and wine bottle openers. Our favorite style is “Vine,” the very first design developed by Sterling Brooke. But there are many fun styles to consider.

Feller Clothing makes classy waxed cotton jackets like you see the Queen of England wearing. But Feller is sooo much more fun and stylish. We love the City Pocket Jacket. Stay tuned for review.

BitchStix are organic lip balm, sunscreens, and anti-chafe products.

TailGaterTireTable is perfect for rodeos or trailhead picnics. Just hitch it to your truck or trailer tire. Presto! Table ready for sandwiches and beverages. Stay tuned for review.
